The so -called African district is an area of the Trieste district characterized by the names of the streets all referable to the colonial wars of Italy in Eritrea, Libya, Somalia, Abyssinia, and Ethiopia, since the last years of the nineteenth century to the Second World War.
It extends from via Nomentana to axis viale Eritrea - Viale Libia which runs along the route of the ancient ditch of Sant’Agnese.

The neighborhood was born in the 1920s with the construction of villas for employees of the State Railways and has strongly developed after the second post -war period with the characteristic buildings of the 1950s and 1960s. In the area there are several architecturally architectural interventions of quality such as the building in Viale Libia by Ugo Pangichenti or the houses in Torre in Viale Ethiopia.
